Fall Flowers for Wedding Season
I read an article the other day on the most popular months to get married. The author summed it up in a visual way that spoke to me: “Pumpkin season is wedding season, winter is engagement season.”
Engagement season makes sense - popping the question around the holidays, when the ball drops, on Valentine’s Day, or snuggled up while the snow falls outside are wonderfully romantic moves.
Pumpkin season is a bit less intuitive, but makes sense when you think about it - kids are back in school, the weather is cool and comfortable, family and friends are thinking about coming together for the holidays. What a great time to come together and celebrate! Depending where you live, Fall feelings may start as early as August or as late as November. For those of us in the wedding industry, September through November are the busiest of the year. The good news is that when autumn rolls around there is no shortage of gorgeous flowers for use in wedding decorations!
Rich jewel tones like deep burgundy, magenta, orange and purple look especially striking against fall foliage. For a unique touch consider adding elements like cranberries or pine cones to centerpieces or bouquets; these natural elements look great paired with seasonal blooms like deep yellow roses, chrysanthemums or dahlias. Dried florals are also very popular this time of year – think hydrangeas or baby’s breath for a whimsical touch!
