How do roses preserve in resin?

First, there are dozens of varieties of roses. Your florist will choose the best flower types that are in season and available. Your bouquet may include multiple types of roses, all of which will preserve beautifully. Roses indeed change colors when dried. I like to think of the deepening colors as the memories from the day sinking in.

Pros: Large and hearty flowers that hold up well during the wedding day and the days following

Cons: Bruise easily, which can show as transparent spots in on the petals

The most popular and therefore most common type of rose in a bouquet is the white garden rose. You should expect the white petals from these timeless beauties to darken to a shade of ivory. Some will antique with a golden-bone color while others hold to a darker shade of their original color. It’s hard to tell how dark an ivory hue they will have until they’re dry.

David Austin English roses are very popular in wedding floral because of their round, complex petals, and bold colors. These unique flowers require extra attention in drying and during the resin pour to retain their complex formation. Some of these roses will darken deeply in the middle.

The Black Pearl rose is a deep garnet traditional flower that’s synonymous with love. These roses preserve incredibly well. When preserved, they turn a deep purple or black-violet. When off-set by light greenery and light color pops from accent flowers like Snapdragons, Stock, Scabiosa, and Hydranangea, the Black Pearl makes a stunning statement.

Brown Toffee roses are unique and have a nostalgic feel. Interestingly, the carmel-brown petals transform in the drying process to show undertones of dark mauve and taupe.

Spray roses of all colors will dry and preserve well. They are not as hardy as large roses as some do not last the wedding day, but they are great for adding color pops in a resin block or as the centerpiece in a ring-holder or wine stopper.
